2008 ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE

    AWARDS PROGRAM

This is the premier event of the year and recognizes the best of the engineering and land surveying projects. Any firm engaged in the private practice of engineering or land surveying is eligible to enter. See specific eligibility and general criteria contained in the ACEC 2008 Call for Entries.

General Information

1.            All entries in both the ACEC-NJ and ACEC competition must use the 2008 ACEC Official Entry Form which was mailed last month with the ACEC magazine. 

 

PLEASE READ THE ENTRY FORM CAREFULLY, ESPECIALLY THE NOTEBOOK AND PANEL REQUIREMENTS ON PAGES 6 AND 7 AS A NEW REQUIREMENT HAS BEEN ADDED. NON-COMPLIANCE WITH ENTRY REQUIREMENTS WILL AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFY AN ENTRY.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.            ACEC New Jersey winners will be the best of all entries as determined by the judges, regardless of categories.  One Grand Honor Award and at least four Honor Awards will be entered in the national competition.

 

3.            The ACEC  New Jersey entry fee is $200 for members and $400 for non-members.

 

Eligibility requirements for the national competition are described in the 2008 Call for Entries.  One black, 3-ring, ˝” notebook must be provided and include all the items as described in I. Official Entry Notebook, on page 6.  The notebook must include a picture of the project and the firm name on the outside cover. The envelope containing the additional Submission Materials need not be supplied for the New Jersey competition, but must be submitted for the winning entries into the national competition no later than January 4, 2008.

 

4.       Keep the Executive Summary – one page; double-spaced (minimum 12 pt. type) describing the problem and solution.  Project title, firm and entry category must appear at the top of the page.

 

Panel Requirements for New Jersey Competition Only

 

5.   One photographic panel, 30” X 30”, board mounted (Foamcore, Sintra™ or heavy grade illustration board).  Lamination is OPTIONAL for the New Jersey competition.  However, all projects which qualify for the national competition, will have to provide a second panel, unmounted, by January 4, 2008, HAVING A MATTE FINISH AND LAMINATED OVER THE FRONT AND BACK (See III, page 7 of the ACEC 2008 Call For Entries)  The panel must have the name of the firm in the lower left hand corner.

 

In order to help facilitate the preparation of the Awards Dinner PowerPoint Program and the printed Awards Journal, all entrants are requested to supply two (2) digital photos of your project entry and one digital file of your display panel.  All images should be in color and supplied as Photoshop (.PSD) files or as high resolution JPEGs (.JPG) files or TIFF).  Image size or   resolution should be 300 dpi at 5 inches wide.  Files should be burned to a CD and labeled “Images for Journal”.
